Install LAMP Stack on Ubuntu 14.04+PHPmyAdmin

If your into web hosting, you’ve probably heard the acronym LAMP. Which stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP. I use these tools extensively when it comes to hosting websites. To make like easier I also use PHPmyAdmin which is a front-end for MySQL. Most of my sites run WordPress and these are these tools are the ones I use in order to get any site up and running. I’ll go through the brief installation steps that we would take from a terminal window.

Step 1: We are already have Ubuntu installed so we are set on the first part.

Step 2: Install Apace

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apache2

Step 3: Install MySQL

sudo apt-get install mysql-server php5-mysql

During MySQL installation you will need to come up with a password for the administrative/root user for MySQL.

Step 4: Install PHP

sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-mcrypt

Step 5: Install PHPmyadmin

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

Select apache2 (since we installed it earlier)
Select yes to use dbconfig-common
Enter the Root/Administrator password for MySQL that we created in step 3.
Create a password for PHPmYADMIN.

You can now visit:
Http:// and see Apache Running and login to Manage MySQL.
